Gypsoteque #1: Through a Looking Glass

by Jonathan Larkin

16″(W)x18″(L)x13″(H)

plaster, encaustic, lapis, gold, linen, ash

The figures in this tableau were made from a mold that was made from a 3D print of a 3D scan taken through glass at the Worcester Art Museum, where these objects are currently displayed. Their presence mixes the distance and inaccessibility of time as it is displayed through museum objects and addresses notions of reproduction, authenticity, memory, and loss.
